Islamabad (20th January 2019): The Ministry of Religious Affairs has failed to issue the Hajj Policy 2019 which was expected to be publicized in the second week of January. The delay in the issuance of Hajj policy is probably due to non-consensus on the Hajj Fee to be charged from the applicants.
Last year, the Hajj policy was announced on 11th January but this year the policy has been delayed which is causing panic among the potential applicants. However, the MORA has issued their stance that they have been working on the policy drat which will soon be published.
The ongoing developments includes tendering of various material (caps, jackets, intimation letters etc) and choosing of commercial banks for application submission.
It is expected that the policy of Hajj will be issued the last week of this month. However, various sources claim that the Hajj fee for 2019 will be up by at least 20 – 30% as compared to the last year. Some newspapers have also quoted that the fee would be around 400 thousand PKR for Pakistani pilgrims going through government Hajj scheme.
The policy will be published on MORA website as well on Hajj Info portal by the Ministry and the Ministry has warned the public not to register themselves with any private tour operator before the policy and private hajj operators names are issues.
