Lahore: The High Court has allowed Muslim League (N) leader and former finance minister Ishaq Dar to contest Senate elections 2018.
Ishaq Dar had submitted separate papers to Senate General and Technocrat seats, however, the Returning Officer appointed by the Election Commission rejected the nomination papers of Ishaq Dar. The Ex-Finance Minister then approached Lahore High Court who permitted him to contest the Senate Elections.
The lawyer of Mr. Ishaq Dar asserted that all the legal requirements were met by his client to fight the election and the Returning Officer had rejected nomination papers.
The lawyer of the provincial election commission said in a reply that Ishaq Dar’s display of a bank account for two seats is malicious, the papers of candidates who do not provide a copy of the certified identification card are rejected by the nominated candidates. After hearing the arguments of the Lahore High Court, Ishaq Dar allowed the Senate to contest.
