National Electric Power Regulation Authority (NEPRA) said that load shedding will continues till 2020.

NEPRA has opposed the governmental addresses that load shedding will be ended up till 2017.NEPRA said that if the same pace of work on the electricity production projects continues then there is no chance of eliminating load shedding till 2020.

In his Estate of Industry Report 2014, NEPRA said that Pakistan will face 1200MW short fall in the 2020.he also said that during the year 2013-14 government did not given any big relief to the electricity consumers. Government is unsuccessful in improving the electricity supply and controlling the theft of electricity during the 2013-14.


In the report it is also stated that NEPRA has refused to place burden on the people of paying 136 billion rupees. NEPRA said that during 2013 government has announced various electricity production projects but their completion is being postponed which a major cause of load shedding. These projects will not complete on given time if the they going on with same pace.
