Moon Sighted: 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal will be observed on December 12
KARACHI: A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (CRHC) was held in Islamabad to sight the crescent for the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, 1438. The committee has announced that the moon of month Rabi ul Awwal has been sighted in several parts of Pakistan.
According to the announcement made by CRHC on Wednesday, the first Rabi-ul-Awwal will be on Thursday, December 1 while 12 Rabi ul Awwal, the birthday of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), will fall on December 12, Monday.
The meeting was chaired by the CHRC Chairman Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman and he also made the final announcement about the moon sighting after the meeting.
“12 Rabi ul Awwal, 1438 would be celebrated across Pakistan with religious passion and zeal on December 12, Monday”, chairman said.
A statement given by the Meteorological Department on yesterday that there is fair chance of sighting the new moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal, 1438 on the evening of November 30, 2016 i.e. on 29th of Safar, 1438, has come true today.
In a letter written to the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Tuesday, the Met office said that the new moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal, 1438AH will be born on crossing conjunction point at 17-18 PST on 29-11-2016. The statement given by the Meteorological Department comes true and moon has been sighted by the committee due to clear and fair weather conditions.
Letter content was included the read “According to astronomical parameters, there is fair chance of sighting the new moon of Rabi-ul-Awwal, 1438 on the evening of November 30, 2016 i.e. on 29th of Safar, 1438”.
“The weather is expected fair/partly cloudy in most parts of the country”, it added.
