Jeddah: Uber and Careem are the car-riding services in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. So many expatriates are working with these services in Kingdom.


Abdulla Elyas, co-founder of Careem, told that only Saudi nationals will be allowed to work with the taxi operating services Careem and Uber. Top officials of exportation and Ministry of Transport’s have confirmed that the non-Saudi nationals will not be allowed to work with any non-licensed private and public taxi service.

Expatriates will face restrictions in working in the taxi service business. But the general supervisor of corporate communications and marketing, Turki Attaimi, has pointed out the special conditions such as graduating from training programs, to work with Uber and Cream.

Attaimi said that the main goal of the ministry is to reduce the gap between demand and supply in the area of transportation.

He said that many people are shifting from other VISA’s to the driver’s VISA. So government want to over come this issue because such activities by the out-siders are not according to the saudi rules and VISA Policy.

Before this New VISA Policy for Visit to KSA has baan implemented by Saudi Government from 2nd October, 2016. Attaimi added that these new changes in the rules and regulations are just aimed to organise the every sector in addition to avoid from the illegal activities.
