Pillion riding banned during 9th, 10th Muharram
Government of Pakistan has banned Pillion riding during 9th, 10th Muharram. All provincial governments also issued notification of pillion riding in respected provinces. Sindh Government issued notification to ban pillion riding in Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Sukkur and Shikarpur. The pillion riding will remain ban till midnight of Ashura day which will be observed on October 24th, 2015.
Government of Punjab also banned pillion riding in the province. Pillion riding in Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, D.G Khan, D.I Khan, Layyah and other big cities will remain suspended at midnight of Youm e Ashura. On the other hand Baluchistan Government also imposed ban on pillion riding in Quetta.
Pillion riding is banned due to high security threats on 9th and 10th Muharram. First 10 days of Islamic Month Muharram are very crucial in respect to security. External agencies are keeping eye on these days to create agitation in the country. But Government of Pakistan is trying to secure all security threats with full competence and all resources every year.
