Sindh Govt announces a public holiday on 1st Muharram 1437
Sindh government has announced a public holiday on first of Muharram to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A.), second caliph of Muslims.
The decision in this regard was taken after the religious scholars have been demanded a holiday on the martyrdom day of the second caliph so, the final decision about the holiday was made in the regards of demand.
Central Ruet-e-Hilal (moon-sighting) Committee met in Karachi to sight moon of the first month of the Islamic calendar. And now I would like to inform you that tomorrow will be the 1st Muharram of 1437 Hijri. New Islamic Year has been started and the martyrdom day of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A) will be observed on tomorrow.
Every Muslim even the Muslims across the world will observe the Youm-e-Shadat tomorrow on 15th October, 2015.
The caliph was assassinated on 27th Zilhaj, 644 while he was leading the fajr prayer. The attacker stabbed him six times in the belly that proved fatal.
The great caliph of Islam embraced martyrdom on 1st Muharram.
