University of Lahore (UoL) student claims gang-rape
Lahore: A student from University of Lahore (UoL) has alleged gang-rape. She has filed a case against his classfellow student of raping her and then aborting the pregnancy by forcing her.
The victim stated in her FIR that she was a student at the English department and became friend with an engineering student named Ishtiaq at the same university. She was met him on December 10, 2015 for the first time.
Her friend Mr. Ishtiaq took her to his friend named Dr. Riazat Hussain at Ali Hospital in Thokar Niaz Baig after the ten days of their friendship, the petitioner said. She also added that there she was introduced to another man called Shabbir.
The petitioner said, she was given an intoxicated juice there and fell unconscious after drinking it.
While I was not in my senses then the three men were gang-raped me, she stated.
The rape resulted in a pregnancy, which was later confirmed by an ultrasound at the Shaukat Khanam hospital on February 26, 2016, she added.
After the pregnancy report, I told the Ishtiaq and he promised to marry me, she said. The couple was went to Ittifaq Hospital for further tests on 3rd March and came with a news that she was pregnant with twins. But soon after few days, her boyfriend aborted the pregnancy with the help of Dr. Riazat on 12th March, she stated in her FIR.
The survivor got the FIR registered at Lahore’s Chung police station under Section 376 of Pakistan Penal Code. The section suggests punishment of no less than 10 years for rape.
If two or more people found to be involved in the rape then, eachof them will be punished with death or lifetime imprisonment, it states. Later, Ishtiaq filed a pre-arrest bail and the court has granted him bail till September 22 and fixed the date for arguments.
